Our Team

Four people covering production, signal chains, lighting and camera, and sound, working from Inverness since 2014.

The people

The people behind each production

flairuni is a small team, and each member leads one part of a broadcast. You deal directly with the person responsible for your area, from the first call through to the live show.

Working together

How four specialists share one production

On any job, the four of us divide responsibilities so nothing is left unowned. Planning, technology, picture and sound each have one person accountable, and they talk to each other early rather than at the end.

Planning and people

Fiona MacLeod leads the planning and is usually your first contact. She writes the run sheet, agrees rehearsal times and keeps the plan current as details change. Her background in regional news and live events means she knows how quickly a schedule can slip, so she builds in slack where it matters and decides in advance what gets cut if time runs short.

Technology and picture

Callum Reid looks after the signal chain, routing and equipment integration, while Isla Campbell leads lighting and camera. They work closely, since a lighting choice affects camera settings and a camera position affects cable runs. Together they make sure the set looks right on screen and that the vision, monitoring and intercom reach everyone who needs them.

Sound and rooms

Ewan Gordon deals with acoustics and live sound, from treating a reflective room to mixing a full band. He is involved from the site visit onward, because the position of microphones, speakers and set pieces decides how clean the audio will be. Speech needs clarity and music needs space, and he plans each accordingly before anyone plugs in a cable.
